Terry McAuliffe said that he would decide whether to stand for election as governor of Virginia by January 7 when he would let everyone know about his decision. If you go to his site www.terrymcauliffe.com you can sign up to get updates and so on. Apparently he recently sent out a personal video message to all the people registered as his supporters, telling them he would be running for governor!

McAuliffe is green!

December 23, 2008

Terry McAuliffe’s site carries an article about a question posed to McAuliffe by a potential voter. McAuliffe has been traveling across all of Virginia as he meets his potential voters, should he choose to run for Governor of Virginia.

McAuliffe was asked by Kyle Blankenship of Virginia Beach about a possible green energy plan for the next 10 years.

McAuliffe’s response to this question illustrates a lot of how good McAuliffe will be as a governor who is in touch with what the 21st Century is about, and about the various responsibilities we have toward each other and also our environment.

Terry McAuliffe is going across Virginia in a quest to find out what it is that Virginians want. As he states on his site, www.terrymcauliffe.com, “I want to know what you think – do you share my vision? What are your ideas and priorities?”

McAuliffe has been spending almost two months getting to know Virginians, hearing what they have to say, learning from their successes and getting to understand their hopes and dreams.

We will just have to wait until January 7 when his big decision whether he runs for Governor of Virginia is made.

McAuliffe says that Mark Warner and Tim Kaine were two great Democratic governors of Virginia. So why is McAuliffe considering running? Getting Kaine to go on as governor is an idea, but McAuliffe raises the point that as Gov. Kaine enters his final year as governor, challenges that the next governor will face.

McAuliffe says that these new challenges can be best dealt with by him.

There are very few people who have thrown themselves into the Democratic Party with the same fervor and enegy that Terry McAuliffe has shown over the past fifteen years. He was an extremely successful businessman who was able to start a number of companies that yielded returns in such a manner that he able to resign at a young age.

Terry McAuliffe news

November 13, 2008

Anyone hear anything?

The Elections for President kept us all going for a while, and then there were the celebrations with Barack Obama taking the elections in such a big way, but since then, things have really quietened down – and there were certain areas that I would have thought that we would have heard things about.

Of course there may be lots going on behind the scenes with Terry McAuliffe, but I would like to hear more about him.

The big question is the governorship of Virginia… that was hot news, or rather, hot speculation, but we have heard nothing more about Terry McAuliffe’s plans. The elections aren’t that far away, so I am sure we will find out soon as to who is standing.

With all the news about McAuliffe running for governor, I would have expected more to have appeared in the press lately.

After the elections…

November 6, 2008

For the Presidential elections, all those who worked hard can pat themselves on their backs that Obama got in. What people don’t realize is that the Presidential elections and the run up to them lasted far longer then the few months McCain and Obama went head to head.

The primaries in the Democratic Party ran for 22 months, meaning that on both sides, whether you supported Hillary Clinton, as Terry McAuliffe did, or Barack Obama, you were working hard for 22 months before even starting to get things happening for the actual elections.

Terry McAuliffe supported Hillary, but immediately on her resigning the nomination to Obama, McAuliffe joined Obama’s team, and he was out and about doing his usual magic for the Democratic Party.

From cleaning driveways…

October 27, 2008

Terry McAuliffe is one of the best fundraisers on US political scene. A successful businessman who showed great promise as a youngster, he started his own company cleaning driveways in order to raise money to support the politicians he believed would make a difference, Terry McAuliffe was the most successful chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He turned the Democratic Party around from a debt-ridden party to a well run profitable enterprise. McAuliffe has also been a Clinton confidante, and is always involved in every activity of the Democratic Party. Recently, of course, he has been – and is – heavily involved in the Obama campaign for the upcoming Presidential Elections.

Wikipedia still lists Terry McAuliffe as an undeclared democratic candidate for the Virgina Gubernatorial Election coming up in 2009. It seems the campaign may be testing the waters or orchestrating a high profile announcement of Mr. McAuliffe’s plans.

An interesting site we noticed is the Draft Terry McAuliffe for Virginia Governor site: http://www.draftterry.com

I don’t know that any Governor ever got drafted because of a website – certainly would be interesting!

There is a lot of buzz online regarding Terry’s plans. The state of Virginia could benefit if this goes as it should!

Terry McAuliffe is a serious player on the political – and specifically Democrat – scene, but that does not mean that he is not the type of guy you wouldn’t want to have a drink with. In fact, McAuliffe has a bubbly, gregarious nature and a great sense of humor that makes him the ideal guy to knock back beer with him. Aside from Terry McAuliffe’s many press appearances which generally leave a smile on the face of his interviewers, and are often broken by a good deal of laughter, his latest foray into the literary world with his book , “What a Party! My Life Among Democrats: Presidents, Candidates, Donors, Activists, Alligators, and Other Wild Animals” displays his good nature, sense of humor and fun personality.
