electric polesIt is crucial that Virginia have a strategy to encourage and increase our use of renewable energy sources while simultaneously creating jobs. At the moment Virginia encourages use of renewable energy sources through with a voluntary standard for power companies to produce 12% of their power from green energy sources by the year 2022. As part of Terry McAuliffe’s plan to increase use of renewable energy sources while also creating jobs, as Governor,  McAuliffe would make this standard mandatory.  McAuliffe believes this extra push is crucial to assuring job creation, improved environment and in the end the energy companies will make money, too.

Terry McAuliffe believes that now is the time to begin planning for the inevitable future of substantially increased use of talltreesrenewable energy sources.  Since agriculture and forestry are Virginia’s foremost industries Virginia has a huge potential for growing biofuels which can create new markets for farmers. Terry McAuliffe is determined to establish partnerships with the federal government, colleges, universities and the private sector to make Virginia an example of how renewable energy can benefit our country economically as well as environmentally.

newhomeconstructionWith the election for Governor of Virginia less than a month away, it is time to really focus on what Terry McAuliffe stands for and why McAuliffe is the best person to be the Governor of Virginia. Perhaps the issue of most concern to Virginians, along with the rest of Americans, is the economy. There is fear and worry about the future, and what we do to get the state up and running is not a partisan issue. In the face of rising unemployment, foreclosures of homes and erosion of life savings, an answer must be found which goes beyond Democratic, Republican or Independent.

McAuliffe does not believe that Americans, and especially Virginians, want only a short-term solution which covers over the problem like a band-aid without really solving anything in the long-term. Just as any business needs goals and a vision of where they see themselves in 10, 20, and 30 years along, so too the Commonwealth of Virginia must create a sound business plan to see us into a healthy and prosperous future. McAuliffe sees this plan encompassing all aspects of state government which will get all Virginians back on track.

Terry McAuliffe said that he would decide whether to stand for election as governor of Virginia by January 7 when he would let everyone know about his decision. If you go to his site www.terrymcauliffe.com you can sign up to get updates and so on. Apparently he recently sent out a personal video message to all the people registered as his supporters, telling them he would be running for governor!

McAuliffe is green!

December 23, 2008

Terry McAuliffe’s site carries an article about a question posed to McAuliffe by a potential voter. McAuliffe has been traveling across all of Virginia as he meets his potential voters, should he choose to run for Governor of Virginia.

McAuliffe was asked by Kyle Blankenship of Virginia Beach about a possible green energy plan for the next 10 years.

McAuliffe’s response to this question illustrates a lot of how good McAuliffe will be as a governor who is in touch with what the 21st Century is about, and about the various responsibilities we have toward each other and also our environment.

Terry McAuliffe is going across Virginia in a quest to find out what it is that Virginians want. As he states on his site, www.terrymcauliffe.com, “I want to know what you think – do you share my vision? What are your ideas and priorities?”

McAuliffe has been spending almost two months getting to know Virginians, hearing what they have to say, learning from their successes and getting to understand their hopes and dreams.

We will just have to wait until January 7 when his big decision whether he runs for Governor of Virginia is made.

McAuliffe says that Mark Warner and Tim Kaine were two great Democratic governors of Virginia. So why is McAuliffe considering running? Getting Kaine to go on as governor is an idea, but McAuliffe raises the point that as Gov. Kaine enters his final year as governor, challenges that the next governor will face.

McAuliffe says that these new challenges can be best dealt with by him.

There are very few people who have thrown themselves into the Democratic Party with the same fervor and enegy that Terry McAuliffe has shown over the past fifteen years. He was an extremely successful businessman who was able to start a number of companies that yielded returns in such a manner that he able to resign at a young age.

Terry McAuliffe news

Anyone hear anything?

The Elections for President kept us all going for a while, and then there were the celebrations with Barack Obama taking the elections in such a big way, but since then, things have really quietened down – and there were certain areas that I would have thought that we would have heard things about.

Of course there may be lots going on behind the scenes with Terry McAuliffe, but I would like to hear more about him.

The big question is the governorship of Virginia… that was hot news, or rather, hot speculation, but we have heard nothing more about Terry McAuliffe’s plans. The elections aren’t that far away, so I am sure we will find out soon as to who is standing.

With all the news about McAuliffe running for governor, I would have expected more to have appeared in the press lately.

After the elections…

November 6, 2008

For the Presidential elections, all those who worked hard can pat themselves on their backs that Obama got in. What people don’t realize is that the Presidential elections and the run up to them lasted far longer then the few months McCain and Obama went head to head.

The primaries in the Democratic Party ran for 22 months, meaning that on both sides, whether you supported Hillary Clinton, as Terry McAuliffe did, or Barack Obama, you were working hard for 22 months before even starting to get things happening for the actual elections.

Terry McAuliffe supported Hillary, but immediately on her resigning the nomination to Obama, McAuliffe joined Obama’s team, and he was out and about doing his usual magic for the Democratic Party.
